The Rolling Green Rendez-vous returns for its second edition on Tuesday, March 18, at the Maison du développement durable. This day dedicated to eco-responsibility in the audiovisual industry will feature panel discussions, networking activities, and inspiring testimonials.

A welcome speech from the QFTC and a brief presentation of the Rolling Green program, followed by an overview of the day’s activities.

Conference | Climate change: understanding the causes, anticipating the consequences to better adapt

Clark Room

Pierre-Paul Audate, Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Montreal will share his expertise on climate change to help us better understand its roots and prepare for its effects.

Panel | Behind the scenes of Zénith: how to make a live show a green set ?

Clark Room

This roundtable will feature testimonials from part of the Zénith production team: Vanessa Leduc (Production Manager), Marie-Cocotte Chailler (Costume Designer), and Ariel Lapointe Lamontagne (Sustainability Coordinator) will share best practices and challenges in implementing and maintaining eco-friendly measures on a large-scale set like Zénith.

This panel explores the crucial role audiovisual productions can play in raising awareness about biodiversity preservation. It will highlight best practices during filming to minimize environmental impact. How can we film in natural environments without disturbing fragile ecosystems? How can productions educate their audiences?

Set construction, dismantling, and end-of-life management play a key role in a production’s environmental footprint. Through this panel, Rolling Green invites you to meet eco-design experts and professionals who have turned creativity into a force for change.

Panel | From innovation to responsibility: ethical and environmental challenges at the heart of AI

Clark Room

Artificial Intelligence opens new possibilities across many fields, but it also raises major ethical and ecological concerns. François Burra, a consultant in digital decarbonization, helps organizations reduce their digital emissions. He will share his insights and advice on how to balance technological progress with environmental responsibility.

The Center for development and research in digital intelligence and E.D. Films will share preliminary findings from a joint research project on ethical frameworks for AI in the digital creativity and animation sectors.

Projection | Short film “L’écho des vagues” : first student award winner of Rolling Green, followed by a discussion with the team

To wrap up the afternoon, we invite you to the screening of the short film “L’écho des vagues”, created and produced by students from UQAM’s School of Media. This short film received the very first Rolling Green student award in Spring 2024.

After the screening, director Lucas Desrosiers, eco-manager Élisabeth Lauzon, and assistant director Catherine Lecompte will talk about the shoot, the green plan that was implemented, and answer your questions.
